| 1. Name: John P. Schellenberg Award for
Excellence in Teaching and Learning 2. Purpose:
Established by John P. Schellenberg, emeriti Professor of
Physical Science, faculty, alumni, and friends to recognize an
early career faculty member who has demonstrated outstanding
"good work" within the mission of the Center for the Enhancement
of Teaching (CET).
3. Eligibility: To be eligible for the award, an
individual must have been on the faculty full-time at least
three but not more than seven years.
4. Selection Procedure: Nominees will be solicited from
faculty with three to seven years of teaching experience at
Kutztown University. The recipient will be chosen based on
outstanding "good work" within the mission statement and
operational areas of the Center for the Enhancement of Teaching.
1) Pedagogy and Curriculum Innovation
2) Learning Technology Innovation
3) Assessment and/or Research on Learning
5. Current Award: $600.00 check and a framed
certificate. The award will be announced at the annual academic
recognition program in late November.

Recipient of Fall 2008 is Dr. Christine Rhoads, Accounting &
Finance Department.
Recipient of Fall 2007 is Professor Lisa Frye, Computer
Science Department.
Recipient of Fall 2006 is Dr. Lyn Phy, Mathematics
Department.
Recipient of Fall 2005 is Dr. Kevin Mahoney, English
Department.
Recipient of Fall 2004 was Dr. Christine Coleman-Young,
Modern Language Studies.
Recipient of Fall 2003 was Dr. Janice A. Gasker, Social Work
Department.
