In a weekend letter to all faculty, APSCUF-KU executive committee president Dr. Michael D. Gambone announced the postponement of the faculty union’s vote of no confidence for “no more than 30 days.”
The following is President Cevallos’ public statement regarding Dr. Gambone’s announcement:
“The postponement of the no confidence vote is a positive sign on the part of APSCUF KU. As I stated last week in my letter to faculty, now is the time for reconciliation, finding common ground and resolving issues in a fair, direct, and timely fashion.
“With this announcement as a backdrop, I am looking forward to my meeting Tuesday afternoon with Dr. Gambone, along with the APSCUF KU executive committee, and Provost Vargas as we continue this process of reconciliation and rebuilding our sense of trust and collegiality on the campus.
“We have scheduled open meetings with the student body and the council of trustees. We also will be scheduling a number of town hall meetings with a variety of audiences.
“Additionally, per my directive in last week’s letter to faculty, Provost Vargas, as the main administration interface with APSCUF, will be inviting leaders of the faculty union to participate in a labor relations building activity.
“All this activity is a positive sign that the Kutztown University community is willing to come together with unity of purpose and singularity of mind, which indicates the outstanding character of the people we have on this campus.” |
