BUDGET UPDATE: REORGANIZATIONS AT KU
F. Javier Cevallos
July 28, 2011
Dear faculty, staff, students:
As it was announced Tuesday, Dr. Chick Woodard, Vice President for Student Services and Campus Life, has retired after 21 year of exemplary service to Kutztown University and our students. His dedication, commitment and enthusiasm have long played an integral part in our students’ success.
With his retirement, and in an effort to achieve efficiencies that will alleviate our fiscal situation, we are eliminating the Student Services and Campus Life division. Effective immediately, we have reorganized its units under other divisions, as follows:
Academic Affairs
New Student Programs
Health Services
Dean of Students
KU Radio
Counseling Services
Multicultural Services
Women’s Center
GLBTQ Center
Administration & Finance
Housing and Residential Services
Recreation Services
Student Union
Public Safety
Advancement
Athletics
Sports Medicine
Additionally, and as part of our effort to balance our budget, the Alumni Relations Office has been closed. The KU Foundation will assume most of its functions, with Alex Ogeka assuming the position of Director of Alumni Engagement.
Although these are significant changes that will transform the way we do our business, it is important to remain focused on continuing the excellent work we do on behalf of our students, and providing a quality education experience as we have done for so many years.
I encourage you to contact me with your ideas for improvement or concerns. I look forward to working with you as we all continue our efforts to make Kutztown University a better university.
Sincerely,
F. Javier Cevallos
