Speech-Language Pathology Program

The SLP program is a pre-professional program which prepares students for success in graduate school. Students complete an in-depth sequence of coursework and field experiences including two semesters of clinic before student teaching. The clinical practicum experiences provide "hands on" exposure to individuals possessing a variety of speech and language disorders which may include disorders of articulation, phonology, language, voice, cleft palate, fluency, aphasia, dysphagia and hearing impairment. Clients are assigned to student clinicians who provide speech and language services to children and adults under the direct supervision of a clinical supervisor. Student teaching is divided into two experiences: one in a local school system and the second in a hospital or community agency.
