Program on Visual Impairment > Financial Aid
students may apply for student loans and other financial assistance options that are available through the
Kutztown University Financial Aid Office.
students may check with their current employer for course reimbursement policies. Most education systems in Pennsylvania reimburse the State System of Higher Education tuition rate.
An option that is becoming more common, especially in locations where it is difficult to recruit TVI's, is for the employer to pay all expenses with the student signing an agreement to continue employment as a TVI in the district for a specific number of years (3 appears to be common). At the end of the specified years all costs are waived, if the TVI leaves early, they may be required to pay-back a portion of the costs.
After you have been accepted and registered please contact Dr. David Ross at
dross@kutztown.edu or 610/683-4651 for relevant course information, i.e., books, assignments, etc.
You may visit our campus on your own or plan a visit through the
Admissions Office. The staff in admissions will meet with you to go over the admission requirements and arrange for you to take a tour of the campus.
Let me know when you are coming and I would be happy to meet with you. You may email me at
dross@kutztown.edu. The program is in the
Beekey Education Building. I am on campus most days; however, I do visit our student teachers in the field on a regular basis. I will work to schedule a time that we can visit.
Monday evening, Tuesday and Thursday are the best - as we have classes on those days. We would be happy for you to visit with some students, set in on a class; we may even give you a little Braille or an orientation and mobility lesson.
