"General education" is a part of almost every college curriculum: the communications and analytic skills it enhances, as well as the understanding of diverse disciplines it brings, are important for both employment and for being a responsible citizen in a democracy. The general education requirement is 60 semester hours and includes courses in:

    English Composition
    Speech
Foreign Language (Criminal Justice majors must take two semesters at the intermediate level. If a language is taken that has not been previously studied, this means that a total of four semesters will be needed.)
    Physical Education
    Literature
    Music or Theater
    Art History or Philosophy
    Economics or Geography
    Anthropology, Sociology, Psychology, or History
    Math or Computer Science
    Biology
    Physical Science
