The B.S. in Secondary Education/English provides students with a thorough training in literature as well as a program of training in education issues.  This program concludes with a semester of student teaching.

 

Within this major, General Education, Academic Specialization, and Professional Studies are blended to prepare students for careers as secondary education teachers.

 

The program leads to a Bachelor of Science in Education and Pennsylvania teacher certification which qualifies the graduate to teach in a middle, junior high or senior high school. (Students seeking foreign language certification will be certified K-12.)

 

Secondary Education majors may concentrate in one or a combination of the following areas of certification: Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Space Science, General Science, Physics, Physics and Mathematics (dual), Mathematics, French, German, Spanish, Communication (Speech and Theatre), English, Citizenship (Geography, History, Civics and Government), Social Sciences (Anthropology, Psychology, Sociology), and Social Studies (Anthropology, Psychology, Sociology, History, Civics and Government, and Geography).
