Matthew Daub has taught watercolor and drawing since joining our department in 1987. He received a Master of Fine Arts degree (1984) and a Bachelor of Arts degree (1981) from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. Professor Daub also studied at Pratt Institute, New York City (1969-70). His work has been the focus of solo exhibitions at numerous galleries including MB Modern Gallery, New York City (1999); The Evansville Museum of Art and Science, Evansville, IN (1994); and Sherry French Gallery, New York City (1984, '86, '88, '91 and '93). Group exhibitions featuring Professor Daub's work include "Exactitude: Recent Acquisitions" at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (1987-89); "The American Academy of Arts and Letters Invitational Exhibition of Painting and Sculpture," New York City (1996); and "New York Perspectives" at MB Modern Gallery, New York City (1998). Professor Daub's work is included in a number of major collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City; The Museum of the City of New York; and the Sheldon Swope Museum of Art, Terre Haute, IN. Several catalogs have been produced on his work including "Matthew Daub: A Mid-Career Report," by Gerald Nordlund, published by the Evansville Museum of Arts and Science (1994); "Matthew Daub: Signs of the Times," by Gerrit Henry, published by Sunstorm Arts, New York City (1991); and "American Watercolors: The Metropolitan Museum of Art," New York City (1991). Professor Daub received a grants from the Pollock Krasner Foundation (1991-92) and a Visual Arts Fellowship from the Illinois Art Council (1986).
