Anna Kuo has taught life drawing, abstract drawing, and painting in our department since 1977. She received a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from the State University of New York at Buffalo (1976) and did additional graduate work at Columbia University Graduate School, New York City. Professor Kuo completed her undergraduate work at Daemen College, Snyder, NY (1973). Her paintings and drawings have been exhibited in numerous solo exhibitions including "Anna Kuo: Sensing the Senseless," John Jay Gallery, City University of New York (1999); "Anna Kuo: Challenge 4," Samuel S. Fleisher Art Memorial, Dene Louchheim Galleries, Philadelphia, PA (1998); and "Anna Kuo: Paintings & Works on Paper," Fanette Goldman & Caroline Greenfield Gallery, Daemen College, Snyder, NY (1992). Her work has been shown in numerous group exhibitions including "Eight Contemporary Artists," Allentown Art Museum, Allentown, PA (1998); "Gathering Medicine Exhibition," Art in General, New York City (1994); and "Tianamen: China Exhibition," The Institute for Contemporary Art, P.S. 1 Museum, Long Island City, NY (1990). Professor Kuo's work has been reviewed in Art Papers Magazine and the Philadelphia Inquirer, and was featured in the book Mixed Blessings: New Art in a Multicultural America by Lucy Lippard. Professor Kuo has received three Fellowships in the Visual Arts from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
