Research Committee 2007 -- 2008
Research Committee Members Jeffrey Werner, Chair
Kutztown University is very much committed to supporting faculty and administrators in their research. The importance of research to the vitality of the campus is noted in the Institutional Advancement portion of the "Philosophy and Mission" statement of the University: "The University should seek private funds to supplement public money to support its educational opportunities and needs, and student scholarships. The University should sustain cooperative relationships with educational agencies, businesses, industries, government, health, and other organizations. The University should consciously seek the highest quality in the selection, retention, and professional development of faculty, administrators, and staff." As one method of working towards implementing these concepts, the Research Committee provides seed money to faculty and administrators to aid in their research. This seed money will allow a person to pursue, on a limited basis, a new topic or idea. It is hoped that the seed money provided by the Research Committee will lead to applications to outside funding agencies and, ultimately, to grants which will support the research and professional development of Kutztown University faculty and administrators. Identical or similar research by the same individual will not be funded for more than two consecutive years. All Kutztown University faculty and administrative personnel are welcome and encouraged to submit proposals to the Research Committee. All disciplines are considered. The Committee has funded, and will continue to fund, research in the fine arts, humanities, social sciences, education, physical and biological sciences, as well as projects in other areas.
