The Kutztown University History Club was established in 1967. Since that time, the History Club has been active both within Kutztown University and the surrounding community. We volunteer with local organizations such as the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center at Kutztown University, the Kutztown Area Middle School, the Kutztown Historical Society, and many others.
The History Department sponsors the Mu Xi Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the International Honor Society in History. Admission to Phi Alpha Theta is an outstanding achievement because membership is based upon exceptional academic accomplishment. Interested students can obtain information about the Society from the History Department Office in 103 Lytle Hall.
The History Club’s biggest event is History Day held during the Spring semester. People and organizations involved with the History Club, such as reenactment groups, historical societies, and campus associations are displayed during this event. Phi Alpha Theta inductions are also held during this event. The History Club hands out two awards: The Martin Luther King, Jr. Award for an outstanding History major, and the Faculty Award to a History department faculty member who has been active with the History Club throughout the academic year.
The History Club is open to all majors, not just History Majors. Anyone who has a love of History is welcome! The following is some helpful information:
