Ruan Scheepers

south_africa_lg.gif

My name is Ruan Scheepers, and I’m from the republic of South Africa. I was born in Pretoria, which is the capital of my country and is in the province of Gauteng, one of nine provinces. I came to Kutztown to study Biology. America is in many ways different from South Africa and there is some getting used to the American way of life, but with the help of the staff at the international office and an all-around friendly campus it is a quick and easy transition.

South Africans love sports and especially Rugby, which is our national sport and we are reigning world champions. Kutztown has an exceptional rugby club and I have very much enjoyed playing for KU, in which time the university was nationally ranked no.1 in the country.

A few facts about South Africa, we are widely referred to as the rainbow nation because of our wide variety of cultures and races. There are 11 official languages in South Africa.
