Dr. John Metcalf was born in Columbus, Georgia on June 2, 1960. He attended Carver High School in Columbus and graduated in 1978. After completing the Bachelor of Arts degree in Music at Jacksonville State University (Alabama) in 1984, he completed a Master of Music Degree in Performance in 1986 and a Master of Music degree in Composition in 1987 at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. In 1989, Dr. Metcalf was awarded the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree with a major in Performance and a minor in Composition from Louisiana State University and has been a member of the faculty at Kutztown University since the Fall Semester of 1990.
