Violinist
Dr. Mary Ogletree
has performed in solo, chamber and orchestral concerts in Germany, Italy, Great
Britain and throughout the United States. She is currently concertmaster of the
Pennsylvania Sinfonia Orchestra, and is a regular soloist with the ensemble
during its popular summer series, Valley Vivaldi. She is a first violinist with
the Allentown Symphony Orchestra and the Bach Festival Orchestra. This group,
performing with the Bethlehem Bach Choir, has performed at Carnegie Hall and the
Kennedy Center, has released three CD’s of music by J.S. Bach, and will be
recording the St. John Passion in May 2011.
Dr. Ogletree received the Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees
from the University of Kentucky; her Bachelor of Music degree was earned at the
University of Michigan. She has won several competitions and awards, including
the Kentucky Young Artists Competition, the Haggin Music Fellowship, and the
James B. Angell Award. She has studied with Mischa Mischakoff at the Aspen
Summer Music Festival and with Andor Toth at Stanford University. Currently Dr.
Ogletree is a Professor of Violin at Kutztown University, where she teaches
violin, viola and chamber music, music theory and a music literature course,
“Women in Music.”
