University Orchestra
The Kutztown University Orchestra brings to campus the great symphonic works from the Baroque to the present. Overtures, symphonies, and suites by master composers such as Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Bizet, and Holst share the program with music from the Broadway stage and the movies, such as Star Wars, James Bond films, and Raiders of the Lost Ark. The orchestra has also premiered compositions written by KU faculty.
KU student musicians have the opportunity to perform solos with the orchestra. Past performances by students include Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, Rachmaninov’s Second Piano Concerto, Vivaldi’s Double Concerto for violin and cello, as well as arias from operatic works such as Susannah and The Magic Flute.
The orchestra rehearses three times a week, and performs at least one concert each semester. In addition to performing exciting music, playing in the KU orchestra is an opportunity to meet other creative and musical students. Come make music with us!
