TRANSFER PROGRAM
Kutztown University - Department of Physical Sciences
ENGINEERING TRANSFER AGREEMENT
Through a special agreement, the faculties of Kutztown University and the
Colleges of Engineering and Earth and Mineral Sciences of the Pennsylvania
State University have established an educational program in liberal arts and
engineering. The program is a 3-2 transfer program. Under this agreement, the
student spends three years at Kutztown University studying liberal arts
subjects and pre-engineering courses in the basic sciences. Upon satisfactory
completion of the first three years and the recommendation of the Kutztown
University engineering program advisor, the student enters the Pennsylvania
State University main campus for an additional two years of specialized
engineering courses. Successful completion of this five year year program
results in the awarding of an appropriate engineering degree from Penn State
and, in special cases, a bachelor's degree from Kutztown University.
ADMISSION PROCESS
Application to the program is made to Kutztown University and
is subject to the admission requirements of the university. A student intending
to follow the transfer program should indicate that intention at the time
of application or early enough for completion of all prerequisites.
At the end of the student's second year or upon completion of 64 credit hours,
the student becomes a candidate for transfer if:
1. He/she has maintained a grade point average of 3.00 or better. (This
requirement is subject to change by Penn State University)
2. He/she is recommended by a letter from Kutztown University.
Engineering Transfer students normally apply to the Penn State portion of the
program in September of the third year at Kutztown University. The completed
application must include a final high school record, a complete transcript of
the first two years of work at KU, a schedule of courses to be attempted during
the third year at KU and a recommendation as mentioned above. Upon completion
of the third year of study at KU, two copies of the final KU transcript must
be forwarded to Penn State.
Some engineering programs at Penn State may require additional courses.
