Prof. Roxane Rix

Roxane Rix is an Associate Professor of Theatre, teaching acting, directing, and other theatre courses.  Since joining the Kutztown faculty in fall of 2001, she has directed for KU Theatre The Seagull, Iphigeneia At Aulis, and Picnic, as well as the musicals The Threepenny Opera and Lucky Stiff, both of which won awards for Ensemble from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Region II.

Prof. Rix, who holds office in the Association for Theatre in Higher Education and is active in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival as a production respondent and scholarship auditions judge, has won awards for her directing of university productions and presented numerous national workshops for actors and acting teachers.

Prof. Rix's publications include articles and a book chapter on her specialty, Alba Emoting, a new, non-psychological technique for emotional freedom for actors. The first to teach the method in the US, she is among eight people in the world currently certified as instructors, and maintains an informational web site on behalf of the non-profit organization Alba Emoting North America ( www.albaemotingna.org).

Prof. Rix holds an MFA in Directing from the University of Minnesota, a Certificate in Acting and Directing from Sonia Moore's American Stanislavski Theatre, and Level 5 Certification in Alba Emoting.
