Process to Petition for an Additional Semester of Probation

If, after realistically evaluating your semester grades, your anticipated outcome for finals and/or summer courses, or there were extenuating circumstances that may have affected your grades, you feel that you will not earn the 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA (cGPA), then we encourage you to pick up the Petition to Undergraduate Exceptions Committee from our office,119 Stratton Administration before the end of the semester to petition for an additional semester of Academic Probation.

Follow instructions listed on the back of the petition form, along with the following revisions:

    1. Under Request, write “An Additional Semester of Probation”,

    2. Under Reason(s), write “See Attached”, and attach a type-written one (1) page double-spaced Word document attesting to the reasons that you feel you should be provided the additional semester of probation.

    3. Under Review/Statements and Signatures you will need to acquire 3-4 faculty and/or campus administrator(s) signature support for the additional semester of Academic Probation. If not local to campus, e-mail faculty and/or campus administrators requesting the support for the additional semester of Academic Probation, and attach the e-mail with their response to the petition, or if you receive no response, attach a copy of the e-mail you sent to those individuals as your effort to contact support.

    4. Return the completed petition to the Registrar’s Office, either in person, by mail, or fax as soon as possible. You will find the Registrar’s Office address and fax number located on the back of the petition. (If you send, or drop off the petition, for your records, make a copy of what you submit).

You will receive a letter and/or phone call before the beginning of the upcoming semester notifying you if you have been approved or denied the additional semester of Academic Probation.
