Eligibility for Declaring a Major
A minimum GPA of 2.0 is
generally required to declare a major and/or a minor at Kutztown
University (KU) and in
some departments a GPA higher than a 2.0 may be
required. For example, to declare a major in the College
of Education, a 3.0 GPA is required. Some majors have
additional eligibility requirements, procedures and
deadlines. Contact the secretary in the academic department of
your intended major to obtain information about the
current eligibility requirements.
Effective Date of Change
All changes of major and minor
are made effective during the Drop/Add period (first
week of classes) of either the fall or spring semester.
If you request a change of major or minor after the
Drop/Add period, you may submit your paperwork, but your
major/minor change will not take effect until the
following semester.
Procedure
for Declaring your Major
To declare a major or
minor you must go to the department chairperson or dean in
that major to
complete an Undergraduate Curricular/Advisement Change
Request. Use the links provided below to determine

specific offices.
