Certificate of Recognition in Logistics and
Supply Chain Management

The logistics field is a significant employment sector for the economies of all developed nations and a cornerstone of international commerce. According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, expenditures for logistics management account for approximately 10 percent of the Gross Domestic Product of the United States. All consumer products— from bananas we buy at the local grocery store to automobiles for sale at an area car dealership—come to us through the process of logistics.

What is Supply Chain Management?

Supply Chain Management encompasses the planning and management of all activities involved in sourcing and procurement, conversion, and logistics management. It also includes coordination and collaboration with channel partners such as suppliers, intermediaries, third-party service providers, and customers. In essence, Supply Chain Management integrates supply and demand management within and across companies.

What is Logistics Management?

Logistics Management is that part of Supply Chain Management that plans, implements, and controls the efficient, effective forward and reverse flow and storage of goods, services, and related information between the point of origin and the point of consumption in order to meet customers’ requirements. Some of the many activities in logistics include: customer service, purchasing, transportation, materials handling, strategic planning, inventory control, forecasting, and warehousing.
