Welcome Message from the Dean
Welcome to the College of Business website. The study of business in KU’s College of Business is a stimulating intellectual experience and a practical introduction to all careers that require the managerial and analytical skills that are in demand in today’s dynamic, global environment.

From our well-rounded and challenging business core curriculum, which gives all students the foundation skills needed in today’s dynamic business world to our five major fields of study – accounting, finance, international business, management and marketing – we pride ourselves in developing strong, capable leaders for businesses in our region, our nation, and the world. To complement our major fields of study, we offer minors in economics and advertising. We also offer a certificate program in logistics and supply chain management that can be pursued along with any major field of study. We encourage our students to pursue internships. They also have the opportunity to work with our award winning Small Business Development Center. These activities give our students windows into the business world and exposure to the environment and challenges they will face after graduation. Through partnerships with schools on three continents our students have the opportunity to study with students from different cultures and to study abroad for a semester.

Our greatest strength is our outstanding faculty who are totally dedicated to student success. Our faculty bring the business world to the classroom through their affiliations and contacts with businesses and professional organizations, consulting, attendance at professional and academic conferences, and scholarly research.

Our alumni and alumnae can be found in prominent positions in organizations, large and small, around the globe.

We sponsor several student organizations and encourage student participation in professional organizations to develop their leadership and social skills and to help them start building the network that will accompany them into their chosen careers.

On behalf of the faculty, staff and students of the College of Business, I invite you to explore the various programs and services that we offer. As you ponder your college choice, I encourage you to visit us in person to learn first-hand by speaking with someone - our faculty, our students, or the admissions counselors.

Dr. William Dempsey - Dean, College of Business
