Accounting Major
What is Accounting?
Accounting has been described as the language of
business. While teaching students to understand the
principles and methods by which organizations
maintain their record-keeping systems, the
study of Accounting
goes well beyond this.
Accounting majors are
taught to understand the cause and effect
relationship that various financial events have on
every part of that
organization. No
business discipline exists in a vacuum.
They are all interdependent of one another. It is the goal of Kutztown’s Accounting program to explore how accounting information impacts the day-to-day
management decisions of every business.
Why Study Accounting?
The Accounting program at Kutztown is set up to help prepare students for careers in a variety of areas such as financial accounting, cost accounting, accounting information systems, tax accounting and auditing. Our program is flexible enough that students have opportunities to do coursework in a number of these areas. In addition, for those students who prove themselves in the classroom, there are internship opportunities. These internships offer real-world experience in the Accounting profession. Graduates of our Accounting Program are prepared to pursue careers as Certified Public Accountants (CPA), Certified Management Accountants (CMA) or Certified Internal Auditors (CIA).
