KU's program is CAEP accredited and AASL recognized for the preparation of school library media specialists.

Through a challenging curriculum that integrates theory and practice, the library science program prepares skilled professional information specialists who are cognizant of their importance in a diverse, rapidly changing global society.

The MLS with initial K-12 Library Science certification includes the required professional education courses in addition to the library science courses. 
MLS with Initial Certification

The MLS with extension of certification is designed for students who already hold a teaching certificate and want to extend it to include K-12 library science certification.
MLS with Extension of Certification

The Extension of Certification sequence will provide a currently certified teacher with the requisite background to take the Library Science PRAXIS exams.
Extension of Certification

The MLS without certification is a 36-hour program which includes the core courses that provide a foundation in information sources and services, organization of information, collection development, and management of libraries.
