The Clinical Experience Program
Dating back to the 19th century during the years of the Kutztown Normal School, Clinical Experience (student teaching) has been the capstone experience for our education majors. Kutztown University has been a leader in the preparation of highly qualified teacher candidates ready to become the future teachers of our nation’s youth.
A Pennsylvania Department of Education approved teacher certification program, Kutztown University is also accredited by NCATE, the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. With KU and NCATE emphasis on content knowledge, professional knowledge and practice in the classroom, the teacher candidate enters the clinical experience ready to deal with the day-to-day demands of today’s classroom.
Teacher candidates are assigned to two clinical experience placements within a twelve county area representing over 60 districts and agencies.
Nestled in the rolling hills of Berks County farmland, the Kutztown University 325 acre campus overlooks the Borough of Kutztown in southeastern Pennsylvania, an area well-known for its rich “Pennsylvania Dutch” culture. The Office of Clinical Experience & Outreach is located on the north campus in the Beekey Education Center. We are located on Beekey’s second floor in offices 222 and 224. Daily office hours are 8:00 AM to 12 PM and 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM.
We look forward to working with you!
