Kutztown University, Counseling & Human Services Department of Counseling & Human Services College of Graduate Studies KU Home
Welcome to the Counseling and Human Services Department!
Our goal is to provide you with the curricular instruction and clinical experiences expected of counselors and student affairs professionals in the 21st century. As you progress through your degree program, you will gain the knowledge, skills, and experience needed for success in working with individuals across the life-span. You will have the opportunity to work with nationally recognized faculty, participate in research and service projects, experience a wide-range of hands-on counseling activities, and develop life-long friendships with fellow students.

Kutztown University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, and all M.Ed. programs in the Counseling and Human Services Department are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).  We are currently seeking accreditation by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs (CACREP), however, CACREP accreditation is not required for PA Licensed Professional Counselors or PDE Educational Specialists.

Our Department graduates enjoy a high rate of employment in their chosen field. Many graduates go on to become Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Marital and Family Therapists, Certified School Counselors, and College and University Program Administrators. Also, a number of Department graduates have chosen to further their studies by pursuing doctoral degrees. You will find that your degrees will open the doors for you to make a difference in the quality of lives of clients and students.

This web site should answer many questions and assist you with your planning. However, the most important piece of advice we can give you is to work closely with your faculty advisor in meeting your academic goals.

On behalf of the Department faculty and staff, we wish you success in your academic pursuits.
