Dr. Eric Johnson, Department of History, was awarded the Michael Bernstein Fellowship, Senshu University Center for History Studies, May-June 2007, Kawasaki City, Japan.
Dr. Robert Martin, Professor and Chair of Geography, organized and hosted the initial meeting of the PASSHE GIS Consortium. The meeting was held on September 29, 2007. Representatives from California, Cheney, West Chester, Shippensburg, East Stroudsburg, Millersville, Indiana, Edinboro, Bloomsburg, PASHHE headquarter, and Environmental System Research Institute (ESRI).
James C. Matejik, RN, MSN, CRRN, Department of Nursing, May 2007, has been appointed as co-chair to the Administrative, Fiscal and Legislative Committee of the Lehigh County Advisory Council on Adult Services and Aging by the President of the Advisory Council.
Professor Carissa Pokorny-Golden, English Department, recently attended the JEA/NSPA National Middle/High School Journalism Convention, held in Philadelphia, PA. A member of the local planning committee for the event, Professor Pokorny-Golden was also the scholarship chair, awarding over 50 scholarships to students with financial need. She also served as newspaper judge, newspaper review contest moderator, and auction coordinator during the four day convention attended by over 5,000 students and advisers from across the country
Dr. Deborah A. Sieger, Department of Criminal Justice, attended a workshop presented by the coach and women athletes at Slippery Rock University who won their $300,000 Title IX Sex Discrimination suit against the University.
Francis J. Vasko, Mathematics Department, reviewed the 6th edition of Kenneth Rosen's Discrete Math book.

Dr. Robert C. Ziegenfus, Professor of Geography, brought greetings from Kutztown University for the inaugural meeting of the Historic Barn and Farm Foundation of Pennsylvania that met at the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center. The highlight of the meeting was a Pennsylvania Legislature citation presented by Representative Carl Mantz to Professor Emeritus Robert Ensminger for his seminal work on the Pennsylvania Barn. Dr. Robert C. Ziegenfus, Professor of Geography and Faculty Athletics Representative, chaired the meeting of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Faculty Athletic Representatives. Lock Haven, PA. September 30, 2007.
Dr. Robert C. Ziegenfus, Professor of Geography, served as the Master of Ceremonies at the Berks County Agricultural Land Preservation Board’s celebration of 50,000 acres preserved. October 19, 2007.
Dr. Robert C. Ziegenfus, Professor of Geography and Faculty Athletics Representative, chaired the NCAA Division II Legislative Review Committee that prepares the faculty athletic representatives’ position on the proposed legislation to be considered at the NCAA Convention. October and November, 2007.
