Dr. Donald McNamara,
Department of English, contributed to the
publication "The Irish in America" a three-volume work
containing the contributions the Irish have made to
American life. It is published by ABC-CLIO. The editors
are James P. Byrne, Philip Coleman, and Jason King. His
contribution is "Canals and the Irish Involvement." It
is an account of the extensive contribution Irish
immigrants made to the construction of inland waterways
in the United States and Canada, including the Erie
Canal, in the 19th century. Published, March 2008.
Dr. Al Pisciotta,
Department of Criminal Justice, published three
entries--Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman and Juvenile
Justice--in Richard Schaefer, Editor, Encyclopedia of
Race, Ethnicity and Society (Los Angeles, CA: Sage
Publications, 2008).
Dr. Daniel S. Spiegel,
