Dr. Richard S. Courtney, geography, attended the Winter Break Speaking Engagement sponsored by the Center for the Enhancement of Teaching, January 2006.
Dr. S. Pascale Dewey, modern language studies, was re-elected for a three-year term as member of the Executive Board of the Pennsylvania Consortium of Canadian Studies, March through April 2006.
Dr. Percy H. Dougherty, geography, reviewed the manuscript "Internationalization of the Chilean Wine Industry" for The Geographical Review, January 2006; was appointed to the board of the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation, Bethlehem, February 2006; spoke on the wines of Italy at the Allentown Symphony Association Fund Raiser, Allentown, March 2006; and at the 2006 AAG Wine Specialty Group Conference: was an organizer and instructor for the workshop "Etymology of the Burgundy Vineyards - The Romance of the Place Names," an organizer for the panel on "The Geography of Wine in Cultural Geography," and an organizer and instructor for the workshop "Geographical Basis of 'Denominaciones de Origen' of Spanish Wine Regions," Chicago, March 2006.
Dr. Paula Holoviak, political science, has been appointed legislative faculty associate for the Legislative Office for Research Liaison, Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
Dr. John Parrott, political science, was interviewed on the KUCR Affirmative Action Bake Sale by the Philadelphia Tribune, the Morning Call, and the Chip Franklin Show, WBAL Radio, Baltimore, Md.
Dr. Glenn Richardson Jr., political science, was a discussant on the panel "Bias in Political Communication?" at the 64th annual national meeting of the Midwest Political Science Association, Chicago, April 2006.
Dr. Robert C. Ziegenfus, geography and faculty athletic representative, participated in the Faculty Athletic Representatives Association's executive board meeting during the 100th annual meeting of the NCAA, Indianapolis, Ind., January 2006; served as a facilitator for the workshop "Better Models for Development in Pennsylvania," Wyomissing, January, 2006; participated in the Delaware Valley Geographical Association's Executive Board meeting, Villanova University, February 2006; chaired a meeting of faculty athletic representatives from the State System of Higher Education, Lock Haven University, March 2006; participated in the spring meeting of the Executive Committee of the Faculty Athletic Representatives Association as vice-president of Division II, and served as chair for the meeting of the Division II representatives, Tampa, Fla., April 2006; and reviewed the manuscript "Adaptation to Drought in the Context of Suburban Sprawl and Abundant Rainfall: The Case of Central Massachusetts" for The Geographical Bulletin, May 2006.
