The English Department touches the lives of every KU student through its offerings in General Education and trains interested students in the disciplines of literature and professional writing through its BA English and BA English/Professional Writing majors, its minors in writing, literature, and public relations, and its specializations in BS Secondary Education/English and BS Secondary Education/Communications.
It further seeks to provide a more advanced understanding of literary studies through its MA in English and its M.Ed. English programs. Within these programs, students develop their ability to think logically, read critically, and communicate effectively while heightening their aesthetic awareness and their understanding of fundamental human issues as they appear in works from various historical and cultural settings.
