Staff Biographies

Deanne Cobb-Zygadlo joined Kutztown University as the Director of the Language Resource Center in August, 2009. She holds a Master of Arts in German Pedagogy, and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and German.

She has worked in the area of computer-assisted language learning (CALL) and technology-enhanced learning (TEL) since 2000. Prior to coming to Kutztown University, she was the Manager of the Language Resource Centre at the University of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada and the Research Coordinator with the Language Research Centre at the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

She has a background in French, German and Spanish language studies and has worked with many different languages, including Asian and North American native languages. In addition to working with language studies, Deanne has developed blended-learning environments for courses in culture, film studies, literature and writing across the curriculum.

Hola, Kate Reif. I am a junior here at Kutztown studying Spanish and International Social Work. I have been a regular at the Language Resource Center here in my Spanish studies and started working as an Spanish assistant here this semester. I'm also president of Sigma Delta Pi- the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Soceity here at KU that works very closely with the Organization for Latino Awareness. I had the amazing opportunity to study in Valparaíso, Chile this past summer and hope to go back this summer to learn and experience even more. I love learning languages and connecting to the rest of the world through experiencing other cultures. Feel free to ask me any questions and I'd be glad to help you out.

¡Hola! Me llamo Kristy. I am currently a junior studying Spanish and Education. This is my first semester working in the LRC and my third year at KU. I am also a member of the Kutztown University Cheer Team, so come to the games and cheer on our school with me! In the spring semester I will be studying abroad in Spain, and I am really excited to be immersed in the culture, increase my fluency in Spanish, and explore other parts of Europe. I love meeting new people so don’t be afraid to say hi or ask me a question!

Bonjour! Je m’appelle Elizabeth and I am a French Language major for Secondary Education. This will be my third year working in the Language Resource Center and my senior year at Kutztown University. The past years I have participated in various activities including tutoring students and playing in Kutztown University’s Drumline. I had the wonderful opportunity working as an “Au Pair” in Paris, France and just completed another summer living in Paris taking French courses. I’ve traveled all over France and explored the amazing French culture and lifestyles. One day, I hope to be living in France or Canada working as a French Teacher. Hallo!/Bonjour! My name is Andrew Velik, a senior majoring in Business Management and German with a minor in French. I have worked in the Language Resource Center on a semester-per-semester basis for the past three years, and look forward to working here in my last two years of study. My-the-job responsibilities include working on ongoing projects to support and promote programs offered by the Modern Language Studies Department, tutoring students in German and French, general monitoring of the lab and various other tasks. I am also employed at Weis Markets and as a Building Assistant in the MSU. Don't be afraid to say hello! I look forward to working with you.

¿Que pasa? Me llamo Bram. I am a junior studying Clinical Psychology, Spanish, and meeting pre - medicine requirements. I am involved on campus with research in the Psychology department as well as a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. I studied abroad in Spain this passed summer and it was a blast. This is my first semester working in the LRC and I'm excited to get rolling, nos vemos.

Bienvenidos a LRC! Me llamo Jordan and I am a Secondary Spanish Education Major. This is my first semester at KU and with the LRC.I am currently one of the 3 Zumba Fitness Instructors on campus as well! I have been studying spanish for 8 years but i sitll have lots to learn! Hello! My name is Becky. This is my senior year at Kutztown and my third year working in the lab. I'm a Professional Writing Major/Literature Minor, but I love foreign languages and enjoy studying Spanish, especially. On campus, I'm involved with the school's literary magazines and I also work in the Dean’s Office, editing the alumni newsletter, “The Collage.” My hobbies include writing, arts and crafts, singing, playing piano, guitar and the mandolin, reading, hiking and watching football (of both the American and global variety.) I hope to see you in the LRC this year!
