Staff Biographies
Deanne Cobb-Zygadlo joined Kutztown University as the Director of the Language Resource Center in August, 2009. She holds a Master of Arts in German Pedagogy, and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and German. She has worked in the area of computer-assisted language learning (CALL) and technology-enhanced learning (TEL) since 2000. Prior to coming to Kutztown University, she was the Manager of the Language Resource Centre at the University of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada and the Research Coordinator with the Language Research Centre at the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She has a background in French, German and Spanish language studies and has worked with many different languages, including Asian and North American native languages. In addition to working with language studies, Deanne has developed blended-learning environments for courses in culture, film studies, literature and writing across the curriculum. |

¡Hola a todos! My name is Jeremy Hesketh and I am a senior Spanish B.A. student. This is my fifth semester working here at the LRC and I have loved it since I started. My main area of expertise is in Spanish, however I can also help anyone out with basic German, level one only, and basic Arabic. Besides classes and working in the LRC, I am also the president of both the Organization for Latino Awareness, OLA and Sigma Delta Pi, the “Spanish Club” and Spanish Honors society here at Kutztown. In addition, I am also an active member in the Kutztown University Choir, Kutztown’s Bear Voices and Chamber Singers. If you ever have any questions, feel free to come in to the LRC and ask! |
¡Hola mi nombre es Emily! I am currently a junior, secondary education biology major with a minor in Spanish. This is my first semester working in the LRC and it looks like it’s going to be a fun year! Around campus I’m involved in Kappa Delta Pi, LinKU , and Spanish Elementary Tutoring. Bonjour! Je m’appelle Elizabeth Wingerter and I am a French Language major for Secondary Education. This will be my second year working in the Language Resource Center and my third year attending Kutztown University. The past two years I have participated in tutoring students and playing in Kutztown University’s Drumline. This past summer I had the wonderful opportunity working as an “Au Pair” in Paris, France! I’ve traveled all over France and explored the amazing French culture and lifestyles. One day, I hope to be living in France or Canada working as a French Teacher. My name is Andrew Velik, a junior majoring in Business Management and German with a minor in French. I have worked in the Language Resource Center on a semester-per-semester basis for the last two years, and look forward to at least two more years of work on ongoing projects to support and promote programs offered by the Modern Language Department. My on-the-job responsibilities also include aiding students with questions in German and French, general monitoring of the lab and various other tasks to ensure smooth functioning of the facility. |

Guten Tag! My name is Ariel Quier and this is my second year working in the lab. I am a sophomore and currently a Secondary Education major with a concentration in German. I spent the summer following my senior year in high school in Bielefeld, Germany to live with my friend and her family. I have also been to Berlin, Cologne, Bonn, and many cities near the Baltic Sea. It was an incredible experience and has helped me a great deal in my studies. I hope to return to study abroad my junior year. Hola! My name is Becky. This is my junior year at Kutztown and my second year working in the lab. I'm a Professional Writing Major/ Literature Minor, but I love foreign languages and enjoy studying Spanish, especially. On campus, I'm involved with the school's literary magazines. My hobbies include writing, arts and crafts, singing, playing piano, guitar and the mandolin, reading, hiking and watching football (of both the American and global variety.)
