chat


The "Chat" tool is used to facilitate synchronous communication. Your instructor may use this tool to hold group meetings, brainstorming sessions, and other group activities using text-based chat.

 

 Accessing a Chat Session

  1. Access the "Chat" tool by clicking the "Chat" link on your course "Navigation Bar." Please note that your professor may not be using chat in his course.

  2. Select the chat you wish to join. In the example below, there is one chat link labeled "Test chat."

 The Chat Window

  1. The "Participants" pane displays a list of users currently signed in to a chat room. In the example below, Bill Smith is participating in the chat.
  2. To add an entry in the chat, type in the text box at the bottom of the chat room, and click the Send button.
  3. To change the display order of messages, use the options in Chat Settings.Chat Settings Icon
