What is Supplemental Instruction? Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a type of academic assistance that targets traditionally difficult academic courses by providing regularly scheduled, out-of-class, peer-facilitated sessions. SI sessions are available to students in designated sections of targeted courses, as they are geared specifically to the content and style of a particular professor's approach. SI Leaders are students who have taken the course before and are recommended by the professor. Therefore, they do not only know the material well, but they also know how that particular professor teaches it.
