DUAL MAJOR OPTION:
Once accepted, Art Education students may choose to Dual Major in Crafts or Dual Major in Fine Arts, a program of study that normally takes 5 years and leads to both the B.S. in Art Education and a B.F.A. in Fine Arts or a B.F.A. in Crafts. Fine Arts and Crafts students may apply by submitting an Art Education Portfolio to the Art Education office. Art Education students may submit a Crafts Portfolio to the AE&C office or a Fine Arts Portfolio to the Fine Arts office. See Prospective Students for more information.
DUAL MAJOR: ART ED & CRAFTS:
Students should be aware that the dual major option requires commitment to both majors and requires a significant level of dedication and focus.
- Courses: Course requirements can be obtained by downloading the Dual Major: Art Education & Crafts Check Sheet.
- Benefits: Dual majors graduate with a B.F.A in Crafts and a B.S. in Art Education. The art education degree prepares you to teach in K-12 public school settings. The crafts degree orients you toward becoming a crafts professional and prepares you for graduate study.
- Admissions: Crafts majors apply by completing an Art Education Portfolio.
- Eligibility: Crafts majors must have a 3.0 GPA. Majors applying for a semester in which they would have more than 48 credits must have passed with a C or better English Comp, English Lit, Math I, Math II, requirements. They must also have passed the PRAXIS I exams. See Prospective Students- Art Education.
