Constitution:
Article I- Name
The name of this organization shall be the Criminal Justice Association of
Kutztown University.
Article II- Purpose
The purpose of this organization shall be to:
A. Foster the professional growth among students
interested in criminal justice who are enrolled at
Kutztown University.
B. Provide moral and academic assistance.
Article III- Membership
Section 1: Membership in this organization shall be open to all Kutztown University students who pay a
Student Activity Fee and are in good academic and discipline standing.
Section 2: Members shall attend a minimum of 3 meetings per semester and
take part in 1 fundraiser in order to participate in field trips.
Article IV- Officers- Duties and
Responsibilities
Section 1: The executive power shall be vested in the Executive Committee,
which is comprised of the officers.
Section 2: The officers of this organization shall consist of a President,
Vice- President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
Section 3: The President shall:
A. Preside over the Criminal Justice Association
meetings.
B. Schedule Criminal Justice Association meetings.
C. Provide general leadership.
D. Act as the official spokesperson for the Criminal
Justice Association.
Section 4: The Vice-President shall:
A. Assume the official duties of the President in case
of absence.
B. Assist the President
C. Be responsible for membership and checking membership
status.
D. Assume the office of the President until a formal
election can be held to elect a President, in the event that the President
is unable to continue to preside over the club.
Section 5: The Secretary shall:
A. Record meeting minutes.
B. Publicize Criminal Justice Association meetings and
activities.
C. Organize all records.
D. Handle correspondence.
Section 6: The Treasurer shall:
A. Keep current account of Criminal Justice Association
funds.
B. Keep an accurate account of Criminal Justice
Association funds.
Section 7: The Executive Committee shall:
A. Attend all Executive Committee meetings.
B. Plan the agenda for the Criminal Justice Association
meetings and activities.
Section 8: Election of Officers shall:
A. Consist of secret ballots.
B. Be conducted by a simple majority of all votes by the
Criminal Justice Association members.
C. Be held in the beginning of the spring semester of
every school year.
D. The officer elected in the spring will be trained
during the spring semester and officially take office in the fall semester.
Article V- Meetings
Section 1: The President shall regularly schedule meetings on a bi-monthly
basis.
Section 2: The Secretary shall specify the time and place of such meetings
every semester.
Section 3: In the case of an emergency, the President may call a meeting
giving at least forty-eight (48) hours advance notice of such meeting.
Section 4: Robert’s Rules of Order, Rev. Ed., will govern all meetings of
this organization.
Section 5: A quorum for meetings of this organization shall be one more
than half of all active members.
Article VI- Committees
Section 1: Special committees shall be appointed by the President, with the
acceptance of one more than half of the club members.
Section 2: The chair of each committee shall be appointed by the President.
Section 3: Any Criminal Justice Association member may be a member of any
committee of the organization upon the approval of the committee
chairperson.
Article VII- Compliance
No committee or its activities shall conflict with the rules, regulations,
and orderly business of this organization, policies of Kutztown University,
Student Government Association Constitution, or the regulations of Kutztown
University Student Services, Inc.
Article VIII- Advisors
Section 1: The advisor of the Criminal Justice Association shall be a
full-time professional member of the Kutztown
University faculty or staff who is
employed by the Commonwealth
of Pennsylvania.
Section 2: The advisor shall be appointed by a majority of the active
members of this organization.
Article IX- Ratification
Section 1: This constitution shall be ratified upon approval of the Student
Government Board, the Student Affairs Committee, and the President of
Kutztown University.
Section 2: Amendments shall become effective when ratified by three-fourths
of the active members of this organization, approved by the Student
Government Board, the Student Affairs Committee, and the President of
Kutztown University.
