Service
Adopt-a-Highway
For over ten years, Zeta Mu has adopted and taken care of a 3-mile stretch of highway on 222 leading into Kutztown. This is a popular joint service project that we do with our sister chapter of Tau Beta Sigma, Epsilon Epsilon. Every year, ZM and EE try and do at least two Adopt - A - Highway dates per semester.
Hawk Mountain
Hawk Mountain is a bird and wildlife sanctuary where Zeta Mu has done many service projects for the past several years now. Our time there has included indoor office work with filing and helping visitors find their way around the sanctuary, cleaning up on the North Lookout, clearing trails, picking up garbage on the entrance to the sanctuary, replacing rocks and mulch on a major driveway at the sanctuary, and other various things that the director of volunteers, Sue Wolfe, has provided for us.
Adopt-a-Block
Like Adopt - A - Highway, Zeta Mu has been adopting several blocks throughout Kutztown so to keep our local college community clean for students and residents.
Band Festivals
Over the years, Zeta Mu has tried to serve high school bands as well as their college bands by working at local band festivals including those in the TOB, USSBA, and COB circuits. In Fall 2006, the Brothers of Zeta Mu worked with the Brothers of the Kappa Gamma at Lehigh University at a YEA! Band festival in Allentown, PA.
Kutztown University Music Department
Zeta Mu is constantly striving to always be available to the Music Department of Kutztown University. Our projects for the department range from small things that take about 10 minutes to larger projects that take a longer period of time. Over the years, some of the more substantial projects have included organizing the music library, painting the recording studio, helping with new piano deliveries, organizing and running the Music Education Workshop registration, helping with all senior recitals and concerts, being runners for music department audition days, as well as other various projects set forth by many of our music faculty. Also, Zeta Mu helps the department daily with ensemble and class set- ups and teardowns. A large part of our fall semesters is directed towards our Marching Unit, where we set-up and tear down the field, make sure the band always has water, and making sure our equipment truck is in top shape. Within the past few years, the Brothers of Zeta Mu have rebuilt the shelves in the truck to fully accommodate the drumline's equipment as well as making sure our sousaphones have a safe and organized place for their instruments.
