Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors,

It is with great honor and pleasure that we invite you to the 6th session of the Kutztown University Model United Nations Conference (KUMUNC), which will be held on January 17, 2009 on our beautiful Kutztown University campus.

We are pleased to announce that this year’s conference will offer an innovatively novel and unprecedented Model UN experience. Your Co-Secretary Generals, Frauke Hentz and Alex Wojcik, proudly present Germany as the theme of KUMUNC 2009. The regional logo of our Conference is the castle of Neuschwanstein, a wonderfully located site in the south of Germany.

Since one of us is a German citizen, we are thrilled to announce a theme we are very familiar with, as it pertains to our personal cultural background. We hope you will experience the flair of Germany, as well as the dynamics of the European Union. One of our procedural committees will indeed simulate the European Union in works and progress. For the first time, KUMUNC will also feature a historical crisis on Germany’s reunification in 1990. We are looking forward to a challenging, but fruitful debate. We will do our best to acquaint you with the German mindset through additional information on our web site to make your preparations for our Conference easier.

In response to KUMUNC’s growing popularity and support, we are also pleased to introduce a second crisis simulation for KUMUNC 2009. It is with personal experience, passion and respect for the Middle East that we have carefully chosen and modeled a crisis simulation fitting for modern challenges to international security, diplomacy, and sovereignty specific to the present day Middle East and surrounding area. It is our hope that such a crisis provokes further intellectual curiosity and admiration for this particular region of the world. We have no doubt you will enjoy the conference we have organized and we are looking forward to meeting and working with you all.
