About Us
The Student Government Board is a group of students dedicated to enriching the lives of the students on the campus of Kutztown University. They meet every Tuesday, from 5-8, in the McFarland Student Union Building, and their office number is 196 in the McFarland Student Union Building. Should you ever have any concerns or comments, please feel free to contact any one of the members of SGB, or use the Contact Us area of the site to find other contact information.
What does SGB do?
The Student Government Board has four primary areas of responsibility, each equally important and valuable to the student body and campus community.
Campus Representation:
Members of the SGB serve as student representatives to the 36 university committees, ranging from Athletic Policies to the Traffic Bureau to the University Senate. In addition, members also serve on other committees such as scholarship selection committees and advisory boards.
Funding:
The board allocates funds generated from collection of the Student Activity fee (collected from all undergraduate students enrolled for a minimum of 4 credit hours) and allocates them to the student organizations programs.
Recognition of Student Organizations:
Through the constitution approval and funding processes, the SGB determines which groups can enrich the student body by providing unique chances for students to explore leadership opportunities which compliment classroom instruction or provide for a constructive use of free time.
Service Provision:
As the representative assembly of the student body, the SGB also works closely with the Kutztown University Student Service Incorporated (KUSSI) to provide services to both individual students and student organizations. Commencement regalia and graduation ticket distribution, vehicle rentals, and management of the Student Bookstore are just a few examples of the services provided.
