11/21/14 3:42 P.M. (Final Update)

Dixon Hall Residents

I am pleased to announce that a hardworking crew identified and repaired the underground pipe causing the leak under the Dixon exterior.

The use of water for showering and toileting in Dixon can resume.  Please note that Dixon will remain under a water advisory for cooking and drinking for the next 48 hours.  Bottled water will continue to be available at the front desks.

Thank you for your patience as the repairs were made.

11/21/14 2:15 P.M. (Update)

Dixon Hall Residents

Crews continue to work toward resolving the water issue at Dixon Hall.  Unfortunately, the issue is more extensive than we originally anticipated. We now anticipate that we will be able to restore water to the building by 5:00 p.m. this evening. Again, we thank you for your continued patience as we try to do our best to return your services to normal functioning.

11/21/14 12:30 P.M. (Update)

Dixon Hall Residents

Residents  are able to use toilets and shower in other halls and visitation extended to allow residents to stay with friends for the night.

Limited amounts of bottled water are available  for functions such as tooth brushing through the front desk.

We anticipate that the water leak will be fixed this afternoon.

Following service restoration, A BOIL WATER ADVISORY WILL BE IN EFFECT FOR 48 HOURS.  It is recommended that any water used to drink, make coffee, cook food, brush teeth, etc., be either boiled first or that bottled water be used.

Water used for consumption must be boiled at a rolling boil for at least one minute prior to consumption.

Dixon Hall Residents  will be advised with notifications and updates via email as they become available.

Electrical Load Reduction Announcement

We have been asked to cut our electrical consumption significantly starting at 3:00 PM and lasting until 9:00. We will be raising temperatures accordingly. We will be implementing our Phase 3 Load Shedding Plan, which relies on the help of faculty, students and staff to turn off unnecessary electrical appliances in order to meet our reduction target as raising building temperatures to 80 degrees.

Once again we are stressing the need to turn off all unnecessary electrical appliances and electronics.

• Turn off all unnecessary appliances such as coffee pots, radios, TV’s, fans, unused refrigerators, etc.

• If you are not currently using your computer, turn off the screen.  If you are not using it at all or can avoid using it until 3:00 PM turn it off completely.

• Turn off as many lights as possible.

• If you have operable thermostats raise the temperature.

• If your space is air conditioned make sure windows and doors are closed.

• All building temperatures centrally controlled will be raised.  Loads will be checked and additional temperature changes may be required in order to meet reduction Met Ed is seeking.

Thank you once more for your cooperation and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
