The
Laboratory Safety Committee mission is to promote quality, exciting,
practical science, in a safe and healthy learning environment.
The committee fosters safety awareness and assists faculty,
staff and students in achieving a safe and healthy learning
environment in which to pursue research, teaching, and other science
education related activities. The
committee is designed to assist in educating the University
community regarding compliance with regulations related to health,
safety, and protection of the environment.
The
committee meets regularly, and when needed, in order to discuss
matters related to laboratory safety and health in the College of
Liberal Arts and Sciences. Membership on the Laboratory Safety Committee is comprised of
the Dean of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Assistant to the Dean of
Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Science Stock Clerk, and
representatives from the biology, physical sciences, anthropology,
psychology and electronic media departments.
The Environmental Health and Safety office is also
represented on the committee.
