PROFESSIONAL CONFERENCES ATTENDED 

Dr. Jeannie Burnett, Department of Elementary Education, attended the Association for Cultural Economics International (ACEI) executive board meeting and ACEI Conference, Atlanta, Ga., March 2008, and she attended the “Teacher’s Choices Institute: Engaging Students in Literacy through Fine Arts” at the International Reading Association, Atlanta, Ga., May 2008. 

Dr. Richard Courtney, Department of Geography, attended and chaired a session at the Annual Conference of the Middle States Division of the Association of American Geographers, Reading, November 2007. 

Dr. Duane A. Crider, Department of Human Kinetics, attended the National American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, Baltimore, Md., March 2007.  

Dr. Richard A. Crooker, Department of Geography, attended the Annual Meetings of the Association of American Geographers in Boston, Mass., April 2008. 

Raymond J. Dalfonso, Department of Special Education, attended the Pennsylvania Speech and Hearing Association State Convention in Pittsburgh, April 2008. 

Dr. John J. Delaney, Department of History, attended “Aspects of the Holocaust: History, Experiences and Implications,” Lessons and Legacies Conference on the Holocaust, sponsored by the Holocaust Educational Foundation and hosted by Israel’s Yad Vashem trans., “Holocaust Martyrs’ and Heroes’ Remembrance Authority,” Jerusalem, December 2007. 

Dr. S. Pascale Dewey, Department of Modern Language Studies, attended the Houghton Mifflin Conference  “Key Issues and Strategies in e-Language Teaching Today,” Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel, February 2008; the Kutztown Strategic Planning Retreat in the McFarland Student Union Building, January 2008: and  “Review and Interview: Second Kutztown University Assessment Symposium,” in the McFarland Student Union, April 2008. 

Dr. Michael Downing, Department of English, attended The Eastern Pennsylvania Conference for Adobe Creative Suite Users. Training involved InDesign, Acrobat, PhotoShop, Flash, Fireworks, Illustrator, and a unique track for Web designers, Allentown, May 2008. 

Dr. Dan Featherston, Department of English, attended the Modern Languages Association Convention, Chicago, Ill., 2007. 

Dr. Heather Fountain, Department of Art Education and Crafts, attended the National Art Education Association Conference and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development National Conference, both in New Orleans, La., March 2008.

Dr. Michael P. Gabriel, Department of History, attended the Pennsylvania Historical Association Annual Meeting, State College, October 2007. 

Dr. Elsa Geskus, Department of Elementary Education, was invited to attend “Developing a Curriculum” at the Harrisburg Community College curriculum review, April 2008. 

Dr. Curt Herr, Department of English, attended the South Central Society for Eighteenth Century Studies, New Orleans, La., February 2008. 

Dr. Patricia Kelleher, Department of History, attended the Organization of American Historians’ Annual Conference, New York City, March 2008. 

Dr. Andrea Kirshman, assistant vice-president, New Student Programs and Services, and Julianne Nolan, director, Community Relations and Development Services, attended the 90th Annual National Association Student Personnel Administrators Conference. The conference theme was “Chart a Course for Student Success” and included numerous ways to reduce environmental impact through sustainability efforts as part of the conference program in Boston, Mass., March 2008.   

Dr. Kevin Kjos, Department of Music, attended the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire Jazz Festival, March 2008. 

Dr. Mary Laub, Department of Elementary Education, attended the Keystone State Reading Association Board of Directors meeting in State College, April 2008. 

Dr. Susan Moon Meyer, Department of Special Education, attended the spring workshop of the Northeastern Speech-Language-Hearing Association of Pennsylvania in Fogelsville, April 2008. 

Dr. David B. Ross, Department of Special Education, attended the Council for Exceptional Children National Convention in Boston, Mass., March/April 2008 and the Pennsylvania Vision Conference in Grantville, April 2008. 

Rosalie St. Clair, Department of Elementary Education, attended the Bloomsburg Reading Conference, May 2008. 

Dr. Heather H. Thomas, Department of English, attended Associated Writing Programs Conference, January/February 2008. 

Dr. Pietro Toggia, Department of Criminal Justice, attended the 8th Annual Jerry Lee Crime Prevention Symposium. This annual symposium is organized by University of Pennsylvania Washington, District of Colombia May 2008.  

Dr. Carol Watson, Department of Elementary Education, attended the Pennsylvania National Association for Multicultural Education at Temple University, Philadelphia, April 2008. 

Dr. Robert C. Ziegenfus, Department of Geography, and Faculty Athletics Representative, attended the 102nd Annual Meeting of the NCAA, Nashville, Tenn., January 2008.
