Dr. Mary Ann
Dailey, Department of Nursing,
was elected secretary of the board of directors of the
Pennsylvania State Nurses Association (PSNA) at their Annual Summit
meeting held in Harrisburg, October 2007. For the past year, she has
served as an elected board member for PSNA.
Holoviak, Department of Political Science,
was chosen as commonwealth speaker for the Pennsylvania
Humanities Council for 2008-2009.
James C. Matejik,
Department of Nursing,
was invited to serve as a member of the steering committee for the
southeastern region of the Area on Aging and Adult Services, October
2007. The purpose of this steering committee is to build a new aging
coalition for the southeast region of Pennsylvania and to develop a
model to be used elsewhere.
Department of Communication Design,
was awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship to
study the culture of Oaxaca, Mexico, July 2007. He was among 24
professors selected from across the U.S. to spend the month of July
in Oaxaca. He traveled in the company of leading scholars while
visiting sites that revealed the rich visual culture of the region.
Dr. Marilyn Meder,
Department of Nursing,
was invited to serve as a parish nurse for St. Paul’s Parish in
Allentown. In addition, she was invited to serve the Allentown
Diocese Advisory Board and was asked to write several sections of
the “Parish Nurse Policy and Procedure Manual.” These sections will
guide the implementation and management of Parish Nurse Ministries
in the Allentown Diocese.
Dr. Deborah A.
Sieger, Department of Criminal Justice,
was honored for outstanding performance and lasting contributions to
women’s equality by the Pennsylvania Chapter of the National
Organization for Women at its annual convention in Pittsburgh,
Dr. Pietro Toggia,
Department of Criminal Justice,
was invited to serve as a panel chair on "Critical Perspectives on
Criminal Justice Knowledge" by the American Society of Criminology,
Atlanta, Ga, November 2007.
Dr. Robert C. Ziegenfus, Department
of Geography, Faculty Athletics Representative,
received a meritorious citation from the Pennsylvania Senate for his
leadership of the Berks County Agricultural Land Preservation Board
at the board’s “50,000 Acres Preserved Celebration,” October 2007.
Ziegenfus was elected to the position of Division II vice president
of the Faculty Athletic Representative Association’s Executive Board
during the association’s annual meeting and symposium in Baltimore,
Md., November 2007.
