A.    Academic Standards and Policy Committee Proposal on Plus/Minus Grading

At the October meeting of the University Senate, the Academic Standards and Policies Committee (ASAP) presented a plus/minus grading proposal for the Senate's consideration. The proposal was to add 4 additional grades, A-, B+, B-, and C+, to the regular grades of A, B, C, D, and F. The proposed point values were to be 3.75, 3.25, 2.75, and 2.25, respectively.

Before discussion begins, a straw vote will be conducted so that each Senator will have an opportunity to indicate whether they are leaning toward (1) no change, (2) the proposal from the ASAP Committee, or (3) a plus/minus grading system with more plus and minus grades including C-, D+, and D-. Once the straw vote is tallied and reported, the floor will be open for discussion on the proposal from the ASAP Committee. Amendments may be offered at that time.
