Stephanie Gilmore, writer, educator and activist presents a lecture and workshop about Activism in the 21st Century –Why We Need to listen to and Follow Young People: anti-sexual violence, antiracism, feminism and more. Gilmore holds a Ph.D. in comparative women’s history and has written two books on feminist activism in the 1970s, Feminist Coalitions: Historical Perspectives on Second-Wave Feminism in the United States and Groundswell: Grassroots Feminist Activism in Postwar America. Sexual Harrassment Student Workshop

The KU Social Welfare Club, a campus student group, and Women’s Center staff members collaborate to present a Sexual Harassment Workshop, featuring definitions, scenarios, discussions, and policies relevant to men and women entering the workplace. Refreshments and resources provided. Information on how to sign up will be announced.

Join FMLA for The Walk of No Shame, a march around campus to raise awareness about the perpetuation of rape culture and victim shaming.

The Social Welfare Club and FMLA collaborate to create awareness about Human Trafficking. Jordon Kirlin, from Freedom & Restoration for Everyone Enslaved (FREE), is available all day for facts, stories and challenges. Campus student groups provide more info and plans for action.
The Clothesline Project
Thursday, April 24, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., College Hill Memorial Grove (formally Bell Plaza)
Rows of t-shirts provide a visual demonstration about rape and violence against women. Survivors and friends decorate t-shirts as a way to express their emotions and tell their stories of the trauma they have experienced.

Take Back the Night
Thursday, April 24, 7 p.m., Alumni Plaza
Survivors of rape, sexual assault, domestic violence, and sexual abuse come together to share their stories on this one powerful night. FMLA encourages students, faculty, staff and community members to celebrate the survivors with performances and poetry. A silent vigil and march will follow, ending with a gathering in the Women's Center Oasis, Old Main 3. For more information, visit http://www.takebackthenight.org/.

The Women’s Center is again collecting food, household and paper goods, linens, art supplies, toys, toiletries, feminine products, baby supplies and new and used clothing for local agencies. Please bring your donations to the Women’s Center Oasis, Old Main 3 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additional donation boxes are also located in all residence halls.
