How to Apply
Please read these instructions carefully to aid you in the process of
applying to Kutztown University. Although an interview is not required, we encourage you to visit the campus to find out all you can about KU,
whether to investigate specific programs of study, to experience the flavor of our campus and surrounding area,
or to meet our friendly and helpful students, faculty and administrators.

Complete the
application for admission provided
by the Office of Undergraduate
Admission.
Kutztown University is currently
accepting electronic Undergraduate
Applications submitted through
CollegeNet.
-
Submit a
non-refundable $35
application fee. (Kutztown
University subscribes to the CEEB
fee waiver program. Students should
request submission of the fee waiver
form through their guidance
counselor.)
-
Request an
official copy of the high school
transcript and send directly to the
Undergraduate Admissions Office. GED
results must be sent directly from
the Department of Education.

Submit test scores from either the
SAT Reasoning Test or the ACT.

Complete any
other requirements as prescribed by
your intended major. (Example:
portfolio for
Studio Art and
Art Ed/Crafts, art test for
Communication Design, audition
for
Theater, and an
audition/interview for
Music/Music
Education) by the appropriate date.

Kutztown
University strongly encourages
students to pursue a college
preparatory program in high school
which consists of: four years of
English, Social Science,
Mathematics, and Science, and two to
four years of Foreign Language.
-
Applicants
will be considered on a rolling
basis.
-
Students who
do not meet regular admission
requirements will have a deferred
application review process.
-
When approved
for admission to the university,
applicants will be required to make
a nonrefundable advance registration
deposit of $200 by May 1. Students
requesting on-campus housing will be
required to submit an additional
non-refundable room deposit.

A
favorable admission decision is
based upon the students'
qualifications at the time of the
offer and is contingent upon his or
her maintaining those standards
through graduation from high school.
Students must request a final
official transcript which includes
the date of graduation to be sent to
the Undergraduate Admissions Office.

Kutztown
University
require

offer

admission
can

majors
include
Art
Education,
Communication
Design,
Crafts,
Studio
Arts,
Music,
Music
Education,
and
Theatre.

your

Transfer
application

Transfer
Education
Majors
(including
Art
and
Music)
with
Over
48
Credits
Teaching
is a
profession
that
requires
selective
admission
procedures
and
rigorous
course
of
study.
Transfer
students
with
over
48
credit
hours
must
be
admitted
into
teacher
candidacy
in
order
to
be
admitted
into
the
education
major.
In
order
to
achieve
teacher
candidacy
the
student
must
meet
the
following
requirements:
- Have a
minimum
cumulative
3.0 GPA
- Have a
C or
better
in three
hours of
composition,
three
hours of
literature,
three
hours of
speech,
and six
hours of
mathematics
- Passed
the
basic
skills
assessment
of
Praxis I
in
reading,
writing,
mathematics,
and have
official
scores
on file
at
Kutztown
University.
Information

Praxis
examinations
can be
obtained
from
www.ets.org
or
1-800-772-9476.

Students
who
have
not
met
all
requirements
will
not
be
admitted
to
teacher
candidacy
and
cannot
be
admitted
as
an
education
major.
They
can
still
be
admitted
into
another
major
at
Kutztown
University.
Once
admitted
to
teacher
candidacy,
the
teacher
candidate
will
be
able
to
complete
the
educational
program
provided
he/she
meets
the
additional
requirements
of
maintaining
a
minimum
GPA
of
3.0;
taking
Praxis
II;
a
clear
child
abuse,
criminal
background,
and
FBI
check;
TB
tests;
satisfactory
academic
progress;
and
satisfactory
field
experiences
in
professional
semester
and
clinical
experience.

Freshman Applicants: The recommended deadline for freshman applications for spring 2011 is November 1, 2010. Students who wish to enter in the fall 2011 semester should apply no later than December 1, 2010.
Transfer Applicants: For spring 2011, transfer students should submit their applications by November 1, 2010. Applications for the fall 2011 semester should be submitted by June 1, 2011.
* Kutztown University practices rolling admissions. The deadlines are recommended and we will continue to accept applications until the class is filled.*

This report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on-campus, in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Kutztown University, and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This report also includes institutional policies concerning campus security, such as policies concerning sexual assault and other matters.
