General Information

Admission Classification

Readmission

A student who has previously attended Kutztown University, has not been enrolled for at least one full regular semester and wishes to resume studies as a degree candidate, is required to apply for readmission. A $35.00(Non-Refundable) application fee is required for readmission applicants. Any outstanding financial charges must be resolved before an application can be processed. The student's previous academic record will be the major criterion in determining readmission. Students applying for readmission who have attended other institution(s) since leaving KU must submit an official transcript from each college.

For information regarding the University's Academic Forgiveness policy (page 19 of the undergraduate catalog) please click here.

Transient/Visiting Student Policy

This classification applies to a student who is enrolled at another college or university and wishes to take courses at Kutztown University. Transient students are required to submit a University application for admission, a $35.00(Non-Refundable) fee and a Transient Student Status Form, which grants permission for study at KU and certifies that the applicant is presently in good academic standing. Permission for study, which may be granted for either one or two regular semesters, is given by the Office of the Registrar. Please contact this office for more information. (A link to the university catalog explains the transient/visiting student policy - see page 23.)

Non-Degree

Students interested in taking coursework without seeking a degree should apply through the Office of Lifelong Learning.

Special Enrollment Programs for High School Students

High school students who are in the top 10 percent of their class may apply for the Advanced High School Enrollment Program, which will allow them to take a maximum of two college level courses. An undergraduate application, a $35 fee, and letters of recommendation from the student's guidance counselor and principal are required.

The Early Admission Program (which replaces a student's senior year in high school) is also available to academically qualified students. Requirements include parental approval, the recommendation and approval of the superintendent and principal, accompanied by a list of courses which will qualify the student for high school graduation, completion of the undergraduate application for admission, and a $35 application fee. The SAT and ACT should be completed, and scores sent to the university (Kutztown University's code numbers are SAT 2653 and ACT 3706). An official copy of the high school transcript must be sent as well.

Homeschooled Students

Kutztown University welcomes applications from students who have been homeschooled, please review the guidelines under the freshmen/transfer sections, as well as the following information:

  1. Homeschooled applications should submit a grade transcript (if available) and the official evaluation for each grade from 9 to 11. A final grade transcript (if applicable) and evaluation must be submitted when the final year of homeschooling is complete.
  2. All homeschooled applicants are required to submit at least one set of scores on the SAT I: Reasoning Test of the College Entrance Examination Board, or American College Test (ACT).
  3. If an official high school diploma is now awarded by an agency, homeschooled applicants must submit a copy of the General Education Development Exam (GED) diploma and the GED scores from all five sections of the test. This information must be mailed directly from the Department of Education of the state issuing the diploma.
  4. Interviews for homeschooled applicants are not required, but they are strongly encouraged for students graduating when they are younger than 17 years old.
