Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Can I earn my Bachelor's degree in two years with a completed Associates degree?

A: For the most part, recipients of an Associate's degree can plan on two years (full time study) to complete their degree program. However, there are some specialized programs that may require additional course work.

Q: I have heard about Academic Passport, what is it?

A: If you are a student at a PA Community College or one of the State System universities and are ready to transfer, Academic Passport is your guaranteed admission to Kutztown University. To qualify for your Academic Passport you must have an Associate of Arts or Science degree from a community college in PA or at least 12 credits at one of the State System universities. All students must have grade point average of at least 2.00. (Specific regulations)

Q: Will all of my courses transfer to Kutztown University?

A: Nearly all courses taken at a regionally accredited institution are transferable with the exception of some developmental or remedial courses.

Q: I have been out of school for more than ten years, do I start all over again?

A: While the university values the experience individuals acquire and welcomes their return to higher education, courses within the major program of study may no longer be applicable. There are avenues and options that may allow some of that course work to apply.

Q: Does my GPA transfer?

A: No, it does not. Only the grades and quality points earned at KU are used to calculate your quality point average. Each student has the potential to earn a 4.00 at Kutztown University.

Q: Does a "D" grade transfer?

A: In most circumstances a minimum grade of "C-" is required for transfer consideration. Under certain conditions however, Kutztown University will accept "D" grades.

Q: I attended several institutions, do you need all of my transcripts?

A: An official transcript is required from each institution you attended even if you do not wish to have the credit considered for transfer. An official transcript must be sent directly from the Registrar's Office (from your previous institution) to the Admissions Office at Kutztown University.

Q: Must I submit high school transcripts and SAT or ACT scores for admission consideration?

A: If you satisfactorily complete a minimum of 12 credits at an institution of higher learning, SAT or ACT scores are not required, however, a final high school transcript must be submitted.

Q: How do I apply?

A: You must make a formal application to the university and submit the appropriate application fee. Official transcripts from all institutions attended must be submitted, including final high school transcript. You are encouraged to use the on-line application.
