Message
from the Director
The theme for Homecoming 2006 is “Everything Old is New Again!” and soon you’ll be receiving a flyer in the mail detailing the many happenings taking place during Homecoming weekend on October 20th and 21st.
It’s a fitting theme, for as I look around campus today, I see many similarities to my undergraduate years on campus. Bellbottoms, platform sandals, and midriff blouses are back in fashion. Dialogue tensions about the war and environmental concerns inspire debate. Even the music wafting around the DMZ is somewhat reminiscent of those long ago days on campus when life was full of challenge and promise.
Perhaps that is the greatest connector – college days are still full of challenge and promise. Like those in my generation, the students of today wade through their academic responsibilities and envision hope largely born of youthful energy and ambition focused on making this country a better place - a place of tolerance, acceptance, peace and good health.
With vision like that how can we go wrong? Certainly there is still much to do, and there always will be, but as each generation comes forth progress is made.
It is very affirming to be back at Kutztown after all these years. The students of today, except perhaps for their advanced technology skills, are not very much different than we were. It is great to be among them on a campus that still challenges and inspires. Come back for Homecoming and I am sure you’ll see what I mean.
OK, now check out this picture of me as an undergrad. OK, now stop laughing! The guy in that yearbook photo is the same guy who is at the top of the page - a bit older perhaps, but someone who is renewed with the old spirit and hope. I know you can be too.
Thanks again,
Kutztown!
Best
Regards –

The upside – his 80 x 20 steel, windowless living quarters on base was substantially larger than his Lytle Hall office; the downside – mortar and rocket fire replaced the usual noisy hallways.

Kutztown University Wins 2005-6 Dixon Trophy
For the first time in the school’s history, Kutztown University is the winner of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference’s Dixon Trophy. The trophy is given on an annual basis to the league’s most successful all-around program.
The Dixon Trophy is named after F. Eugene Dixon, Jr., former chairman of the Board of Governors of Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education. It is awarded annually to the PSAC member institution that accumulates the most points based on results of conference playoffs and/or regular-season records. Each institution's point total is calculated by adding its top six men's finishes and top six women's finishes in 21 conference sports.

What
is the KU Foundation?
The KU Foundation is a private corporation established as
the fund-raising agency of Kutztown University. The Foundation
was established in 1983 when the Kutztown College Foundation
and the George B. Hancher Endowment Fund were merged. This
merger brought all university fund-raising into one unified
effort. The Foundation status provides donors with the assurance
that their funds will be used only as they indicated and
that gifts cannot be controlled by the state. Foundation
resources are used to address University-identified needs.
