Kick
off Fall at Homecoming 2004
Kicking
Off New Traditions is the theme for the October 30, 2004
Homecoming celebration. Kutztown is steeped in tradition and this
year were looking to kick off some new traditions. Some
new traditions well see this year include a pep rally and
Tailgate City. The Friday night pep rally will include appearances
by mascots Goldie and Griz, the KU Marching Unit and the Homecoming
Court. Immediately following the pep rally will be a fireworks
display, the first on campus in many years.
Tailgate
City is a venue for student organizations on campus to invite
their alumni back for a little food, fun and socializing before
and during the football game. For the premiere event 15 organizations
have decided to hold reunions. Dick Button, director of development
for the KU Foundation and the creator of Tailgate City feels this
gives alumni another valuable reason to return to campus. According
to Button, Tailgate City is a great opportunity for alumni
to reunite with the organizations they were a part of and network
with alumni and current students sharing similar interests.
Glenn Godshall, director of Alumni Relations adds that, The
purpose of Tailgate City is to provide a festive homecoming atmosphere
where alumni can return to campus for a smaller, more focused
event involving their former organizations in a relaxed environment.
A few of
the tried and true events planned include the Alumni Brunch and
Class Reunions in the Field House honoring all alumni but especially
those celebrating their 5-, 10-, 15-, 20-, and 25-year reunions.
The dedication of the new Science Center will also be taking place
at Homecoming. Be sure to take time to tour the remarkable new
facilities. You can also look forward to the Childrens Festival,
KU Marching Unit halftime show, and the naming of the 2004 Homecoming
king and queen. And, dont miss the famous 5th Quarter
Alumni Homecoming Party after the game. This annual alumni party
is always a crowd-pleaser and includes door prizes, music, food
and drinks. Best of all, its free!
