Kutztown "Three-Peats" as PSAC Champions

SHIPPENSBURG, PA - Kutztown won its third-straight Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference men's tennis championship with a 5-0 win over Millersville at Shippensburg University's Robb Sports Complex.

Kutztown (12-2) jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles, picking up victories from Harsh Sharma and Lukas Labitsch at first doubles, Santiago Baquerizo and Jose Castro at second doubles, and Lukas Beman and Somdeep Appineni at third doubles.

In singles, KU needed just two points to finish off the match, getting those points from Labitsch at third singles and Rubens Vianna at fifth singles. Both won in straight sets.  The other four singles matches were not finished after KU recorded the decisive team points.


Labitsch

Labitsch was named the tournament's most valuable player, after winning both his singles and doubles matches in KU's two wins in the championships. 

The PSAC title is the sixth in the last seven years for Kutztown and head coach Suresh Ramamurthi.  It is the second time in program history that the team has won three-straight conference crowns, winning three consecutive from 2000-02.

Kutztown advances to PSAC Men's Tennis Final

SHIPPENSBURG, PA - Kutztown cruised to an 8-0 win over Slippery Rock in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference men's tennis semifinal at Shippensburg's Robb Sports Complex. 

Kutztown swept the doubles matches, with Harsh Sharma and Lukas Labitsch winning #1, Radoslaw Hlubinski and Santiago Baquerizo winning #2 and Jose Castro and Rubens Vianna winning #3.  KU won the first and second matches, as well as the fourth-through-sixth singles.  Baquerizo and Labitsch won at #1 and #2.  Lukas Beman, Castro and Sendur Gautham won #4-#6.  Somdeep Appineni led the # singles match by a set, but it did not finish. 

Kutztown, which improves to 12-2 with the win, will face the winner of Friday's other semifinal, between Millersville and Bloomsburg, in Saturday's finals at 11:00 AM.
