Kutztown Women Advance to PSAC Championship Match

BLOOMSBURG, PA - Kutztown defeated California (PA), 5-1, Friday afternoon to advance to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship match.

Kutztown, which improves to 12-2 with the victory, will face Bloomsburg in the title match.  The Huskies defeated Indiana (PA), 5-1, in the other semifinal.

The Golden Bears will be going for their first-ever PSAC championship.  The win over Cal set a new KU record for wins in a season, with 12.  Kutztown had won 11 matches three times, most recently in 1997-98.

Kutztown falls Bloomsburg in PSAC Championship Based on Seed

BLOOMSBURG, PA - With the score tied 4-4, inclement weather forced the PSAC Championship match to be called.

The match officially ends as neither a win, loss, nor tie for either team, but Bloomsburg wins the title due to the fact the Huskies won the regular-season meeting between the two teams.

The match at No. 1 singles was still in play when snow began to fall in Bloomsburg, making court conditions unplayable.  Kerstin Kloeffer and Iida Hokkanen had split the first two sets and Kloeffer led 5-2 in the third when the match was called.  The two teams had already been on the courts for over seven hours with several weather delays.

The Golden Bears match their best PSAC finish in school history.  Kutztown also finished second in 1993.
